If you follow our Instagram (@WhereWeAre.Family) you saw the above adorable pic of Nico looking super cool at our library. As part of our family schedule we try to go to the library every Tuesday so we can swing by our local farmer's market afterward. We check out a lot of books- as evidenced by the huge fine I had to pay after taking this picture, but we don't mind since we love this service and will probably miss it the MOST when we move abroad.

But since we are preparing to pack up and expat out, we are beginning to move more and more of our reading to Audible and Kindle for easy travel. Our public library also offers similar services with our library card (hence me taking care of that fine so I could continue access to such resources), but there is definitely a larger selection through Amazon. (Ain't that always the case?)

We have carried a 2 book per month subscription with Audible for nearly two years now and we use a few different email subscriptions to peruse weekly Kindle deals. Riffle.com and Simple Homeschool.com are our favorite weekly Kindle round up emails. The good stuff has already been sifted out and they are often already inline with our needs or favorite genres.

I thought it was prudent to share this post TODAY because of Prime Day through Amazon. There will be lots of people looking to score Instapots or leggings or whatever else it is that is one sale today, but in my opinion, the best deal of the day is the Audible 3 month subscription for the price of 1 (a $30 savings for the service- outrageous savings for purchasing audiobooks) and KindleUnlimited for 99 cents for a 3 month subscription (normally $29.99).

To take advantage of the One Day Deals, you need to be a brand new Audible or KindleUnlimted subscriber, but with such great deals now is definitely the time . I cannot say too much about KindleUnlimited because I have waited until to day to sign up our family for this subscription- but here is what I do know and what I am excited about:

KindleUnlimited is basically a lending library. You can have up to 10 books at once and the collection is always changing. So there is less commitment fear because if you hate it, return it and borrow something else.

That comfortable, far off look brought to you by Dr. Seuss on audio book.

What I am really excited about though is several of the books come with free narration- that's the book and someone reading it together at the same time. Y'all. My mind is blown. This is going to completely up our Home School Game. Don't get me wrong- we obviously read a lot of books- I know I promised a "What We're Reading Post" keep reading- it's coming!- but having a book read itself to Nico. I'm totally game. We currently own all of the Olivia books with narration, and he LOVES being able to "read" the stories without my help. Let's be honest, I love it too.

So if you are interested in upping YOUR reading game, whether in the car or at home- we listen to books on our daily walks too, TODAY is the day to try it out for cheap. Follow THIS link for $30 off a 3 month Audible subscription and THIS link for a KindleUnlimited Subscription that will only cost you 0.99 cents for 3 months. You can cancel any time after the 3 month trial- risk free!

What We Are Reading.

OR How We Use Our Audible Subscription And Save Tons of Money Doing It.

Here is how we are using our Audible subscription the last two months and why Prime Day is such an amazing deal for book lovers.

In June we downloaded:

We love downloading our favorite audio books to keep with us when we cannot travel with actual books.

We love downloading our favorite audio books to keep with us when we cannot travel with actual books.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix (book 5) This is regularly $44.95 to just buy outright from Amazon/Audible. If you are an Audible member (remember 3 credits over 3 months for $14.95 TODAY ONLY) you can use one of your credits. This means for $14.94/month subscription you can save $30.00 ($44.95-$14.95) for just one book.

Vagabonding: Regular price $14.95 or 1 credit. Like I said before, we have a two credit (platinum) Audible subscription so we actually pay $22.95 for two credits every month. That means this month instead of paying nearly $60.00 for audio books, we only paid $22.95 AND I didn't have to read all 26 hours of Harry Potter out loud.

In July we downloaded:

I love listening to Tsh Oxenreider's Podcast: The Simple Show. This book is more of that awesomeness.

I love listening to Tsh Oxenreider's Podcast: The Simple Show. This book is more of that awesomeness.

The Dark Prophecy: The Trials of Apollo Book 2: Regular price $35.00. Hardback book to read out loud myself: $19.99 for the book and $5.99 for the bag of cough drops. BUT only $14.95 with a month to month credit from Prime Day.

At Home in the World: $21.67 to purchase outright. This month's purchase total would have been $51.67, but we saved $28.72.

Clearly we have a YA/Travel theme going with our credits right now, but I am looking for more children's collections in the upcoming months. If you want more updates on what we are reading or how we incorporate SO MUCH reading into our daily home school/home life shoot us a message on Instagram (@WhereWeAre.Family) or comment below.

What are YOU reading this summer? Are you planning for Back to School reading yet? If you could only take 10 lbs of books to a foreign country, what books would you pack and what would you do with your others?? And PLEASE let us know if you take advantage of the ONE DAY ONLY Audible and KindleUnlimited deals. We'd love to see what you are reading!
